It's been a while...

hasn't it?

A lot of things happened around here, and nothing quilting related. However, the fact that I found the quilting world helped me so much in designing my  soft structured carriers .

I finished my first round of SSCs, and let me just say I am incredibly proud of myself.

Two of my all times favorite fabrics got together, a Joel Dewberry and a Laurie Wisbrun one.

Don't they look like they're made for each other? :)

Also, I indulged myself in some fabulos Amy Butler designs that I am so in love with right now.

The feel of her satin home decor fabrics is just amazing, they're strong, but not too stiff, and the bit of shine the satin has makes them incredible!

I also chose some Lecien fabrics, just to find out that they're not available anymore anywhere.

luna-gri-lecien-01

Well, we'll see about that :).

Do you see those cute little shoes? Yeap, JD again. I still love Heirloom.

luna-negru-grena-01

A lot :D.

The only problem I have is that now, when I finally have time to start quilting again, all the fabrics I had in mind from, what, January?, are sold out. And the new stuff is just...wow! so many new things, I feel so overwhelmed trying to browse my favorite stores.

Does this happen to you too? How can I choose now?
And what about new Echino? Nothing? Nada?

I so need to get out there a.s.a.p :)

I am so predictable

I still have no time to sew but at least I'm starting to buy stuff again. For inspiration, of course.
And even though the orange/blue Heirloom that I wanted so much turned out to be pretty uninspiring and I ended up selling half of it, I really love the purple one.

So as I was filling up a flat rate envelope with some white Kona that I really needed, I decided to make room for just a little Heirloom.

I took pretty much everything in purple and no disappointment here, they are all perfect!

Plus, I couldn't help buying some more of these flowers, they really are one of the best prints I've seen lately.

But no, that;s not all. I also received the fabrics for my next babywearing products. No, no Echino, but....

How predictable am I again? :))

I probably won't have anything to show you in the next month either, as I am focusing on the babywearing products right now, so I'm wishing everybody a lot of snow and a lot of time to play with it :). Or just sun and tan, if you live on the other half of the globe :)

Unrelated

I have not touched my sewing machine for more than a month. However, I touched the industrial one more than once.

But I do have a reason to post here today, I have almost finished the Echino stash.

MeiTai-elicoptere-albastru

As usual, I used every scrap of Echino.

Man, I love these fabrics!

Hey, girl,

I can always tell the difference between you Echino quilts. And they are all to die for.*

So, yes, another Echino quilt. That, of course, I am madly in love with.

echino3-01

Every single print in this quilt is just perfect!

The way it folds ...

The way it drapes ...

Just perfect!

One tiny detail, though. Can you focus a little on the pink square with the car?

Echino quilt
The right lower corner? See that? That's the side mirror from the car below. Could one guess how many times I thought that's a thread and tried to pick it up? It's ok, I can tell you: a loooot of times!

*of course you must know what I'm talking about.

I'm the Grinch

Well, I said it. I am so not in the mood for Christmas, or anything related. But I did sew. A lot. So here are some of this month's stuff.

The one that I couldn't get a decent photo of, and the one that started the pink madness in my house :)

anemona-1

The crosses came out very quickly, the 5" squares helped a lot. Also, like never before :)), I actually decided what to use before starting cutting, so every cross is made from 3 pieces [2 squares and one rectangle]. Pieceing was so easy!

anemona-5

Not sure I love it with the gray border so much, I think the next one will have no border at all. [next quilt with crosses]

Then the princess baby quilt, made at the same time with baby blue and baby smile.

I tried to get out of the pink obsession with some all-time-favorite Echino, but right after it was finished, along with some custom quilts, I kept thinking about the pink.

So I made the scrappy one.

razna

So soft and thin [backed it with some no name thin and soft fabric], it's one of my favorites and the first one to leave.

razna (3)

But no, this was not enough :)). Again, I put all the larger scraps left with some gray, and made another pinkish one :)

Somewhere along the way I also made three sweet pillows but only made pictures of two of them. A heavily quilted wonky star,
steluta-1

and two of them with the sweetest mini charm pack ever :)
huta2-1

I wanted so much to see for myself Aneela's fabrics but funding really stopped me from getting anything larger. It was just perfect!

huta2-2

But, incredible as it may seem :)), I got over the pink phase. Oh, yeah! Well, kind of :))

Pink and green is different, right? :)))

Almost alive

I am still here, working my butt off, still upset with my camera and still quilting like there's no tomorrow :)).
The [making/ fixing/uploading on flickr/ adding to pools/ copying to blogger] pics thing is, however, so not fun anymore. Considering it works together with [updating my babywearing site, FB page, romanian blog], is taking pretty much all the time I have. And making the computer no fun at all.

So, while I'm here, I should show you something, right?

How about my new obsession for small stuff?

IMG_5425 (Medium)

I made a.lot! of pouches. Again :)).

Some FFA III sweetest horses ever
caluti3

and pretty much every Echino I have.

[Showing only one Echino was a very difficult decision. This one is the smallest. Here are some of the others]

How some quilts work

There are times when I know exactly what I want to do. Pretty much most of the times. But there are, of course, times, when I have no idea what so ever. It happens that I have a little time i should use and no idea at all, or just love a fabric so much I just don't know what to do with it.

When I received the heilroom stash, after a lot of staring, I decided to cut some 2" strips to play with. Those 'eyes' bothered me so much that I just left it like this and moved on.

But after the cross quilt and the baby princess, I couldn't stop thinking about these colours.

rozele

So I took all the scraps out and started using every single tiny bit. I came up with 4 almost squares. Lined them up, added more scraps, and took the difficult decision: 1 quilt instead of 4 pillows.

With the new walking foot things went really well, no pulling, no stretching with only 7 basting pins.

IMG_5213-2
[I'm really sorry for the weird colours, me and the camera we're not 100% back together :)]

I hope it's safe to say I'm done with pink for a while. I finished almost all my pink fabrics so I should be safe :). However, crazy scrappy piecing gave me more ideas so there's another one on the way :). Not pink, I swear :)
